Guided Whitewater Group Rafting is an excellent team building opportunity for your group or organization. Since 1974, Deerfield River has fostered a sustainable recreational industry with the advent of the Bear Swamp Generating Station. This impressive hydroelectric facility stores nearly 1.7 billion gallons of water at an elevation 800 feet above the river. With the scheduled releases, millions of gallons water will suddenly turn the Deerfield into a whitewater paradise for thousands of rafters, kayakers and downriver canoeists.

Berkshire Whitewater provides several trip group offerings on the Deerfield and other regional rivers. All of our rafting guides are rigorously trained and understand the importance of providing your group with the most enjoyable outdoor experience possible. They take great pride in being able to transform a newer group into a skilled crew who can successfully navigate the Deerfield. We also offer “sit on top” kayak group trips on the more mellow sections of the river.

We have made a substantial investment into the best NRS rafts and equipment available making sure that members of your group are correctly outfitted with the best gear. If it is colder, we utilize wetsuits and every trip begins with a pre-trip briefing. We offer a picnic lunch on the river or an end of the day barbeque at the Berkshire East Ski Area, depending on the trip.

While we have no weight or height requirements for our trips, we do require that each rafter be able to fit correctly into a life preserver. We have a minimum age of five years of age for our float trips, eight years for our Fife Brook trip and fifteen years for the Monroe Bridge trip. The Millers and West River has a minimum age of twelve years.

An Additional Educational Opportunity for your Group.

We can also package your rafting adventure with our Renewable Energy Classroom. This involves a tour of our 900kW wind turbine, 500 kW solar field and a audio visual presentation on the Bear Swamp Generating Station.

What our guests are saying on Trip Advisor about their experience with Berkshire Whitewater Group Rafting.

8-4-2015 “We booked our Fife Brook whitewater rafting trip on short notice (just a day ahead of time) on a non guaranteed day. We knew that meant that our trip wouldn’t be confirmed until they had specifics on the dam release times but we thought it was worth the chance. We drove out for a 1:30pm check in and arrived to find severe thunderstorms passing through. We waited it out and after watching radar and weighing the options we decided to gear up and head up river to see if the weather had passed through. By the time we got up there the sun was shining and the day was beautiful! We had 2 boats lead by Max and Dom. Both guides were fun and entertaining. They gave us a little background history as we went down the river, pointed out wildlife and egged on a little friendly competition between our families with water fights. We even had a chance to jump in the river for a swim! The lunch provided was perfect for the day – wraps, chips iced tea and lemonade, fresh watermelon and brownies. The trip was just the right amount of excitement for our two families with children ages 8-11. It was a great time and we all left ready to plan our next trip! I have to say how impressed I was with the team at Berkshire Whitewater. Dom, Max, Melanie and Jill took care of everything and made the day so much fun!”

8-21-2015 “Everybody should go with this company. Very organized!! Lunch was great and quick. Beautiful scenery. Emma was the greatest tour guide, really experienced and made the trip fun!”

8-23-2015 “This company does an excellent job on the river. Our guide was Jair. He was excellent and fun guide, but all of Berikshire’s crew know the river and are worth the trip.”
